The soft matter young investigator's meet (SMYIM) is organized annually, since its inception in 2014. The meeting aims to bring together young soft matter scientists and engineers to present their research, discuss emerging research directions in the field and encourage new collaborations. It provides a platform to connect a rapidly growing interdisciplinary group working on colloids, polymers and gels, granular matter, liquid crystals, active and biological matter, self assembly, interface, surfaces and membranes, rheology, non-equilibrium phenomena, fluid dynamics, etc., from various disciplines like physics, chemistry, biology, engineering sciences. The goal of this conference is to enhance the quality of soft matter science through fruitful discussions by bringing scientist together. The participation and talk from young investigators are based on invitation only. A key highlight of SMYIM 2026 will be mentoring sessions by senior scientists, offering guidance on research directions, grant writing, and career development. In addition to faculty members and industry professionals, a limited number of spots are reserved for young postdoctoral researchers working in soft matter.
Our previous meetings were held at various locations, including Pondicherry (2014, 2014 and 2015), Goa (2016), Shimla (2018), Shillong (2019), virtual (2020 and 2021), Mysuru (2022), Jim-Corbett (2023), Kodaikanal (2024), Shimla (2025), and were a success. This year we will bring it to Goa (2026).
